A Novel and Simplest Green Synthesis Method of Reduced Graphene Oxide Using Methanol Extracted Vernonia Amygdalina: Large-Scale Production

The large-scale production of high-quality graphene is the major focus scientists and engineers recently. However, its massive manufacturing routes from precursor oxide (GO) are involved in toxic gasses consist hazardous explosive steps that severely hurt threaten ecological balance human health. Therefore, this study, we investigated green, effective, economical approach for synthesis by using Vernonia amygdalina (VA) plant leaf extracts effective efficient reduction GO. nonexplosive two-step GO a short period time absence an ice bath was used study. appropriate solvent extraction VA green methanol, reducing capping agent extract identified to be terpenoids polyphenols. graphene/rGO obtained way characterized UV-VIS, XRD, FTIR, SEM, HR-TEM, EDAX confirmed successful under hydrothermal process. HR-TEM images showed development few layers graphene. FTIR result also shows complete Hence, methanol extracted leaves consisted most compounds could preferred method graphene-based materials.
